Back to Work

After a two week vacation, I am ready to get back to work, at least I think I am. I started with the best intentions, brought my laptop and coded in the evenings when the rest of my family was asleep. I made great progress too, finishing one experiment and setting up the second. The motivation died Christmas Eve, and hasn't picked up again since. Btw, Dullus airport? Boo to your pay for wifi service. Oakland now has free internet, as does Vegas, although McCarran wireless is about as slow as dial up. Philadelphia claims to be free for students (I brought my id, but didn't have a chance to test.) Denver is paid wired access. Someday Wifi will be free everywhere.
D and I visited 3 venues. After we arrived at my parents house, we did a quick google search and found a few dozen possibilities. From there we narrowed down the list to six based on the pictures they supplied. Of the six, only 3 returned my calls, so we visited them. The first one we liked the most. It was beautiful inside as well as out, and we got a good vibe from the staff. The second one we visited was equally beautiful, perhaps a little more so, but we got a sense that the staff viewed the couple getting married as a necessary evil. The first venue listened to our concerns about planning a wedding from afar, and offered advice. The second venue gave us their pre-canned speech and didn't really address the issues. The third venue staff was nice, but the venue itself was far and not very attractive. In the end we decided to go with the first one. It's a little more expensive, but as D says, you get what you pay for.
We still need a date. We have a hold on one date, but their may be a logistical issue. I really just want to put the deposit down and be done with it. We've changed our date a few times and I feel like we can't really begin planning until that's straightened out. When we started this process we thought a long engagement would be best, letting us plan with the least amount of stress. But now I'm just ready to be a Mrs. Of course I'm also looking forward to being a Dr. That's it, no more procrastinating!
